2010 Educational Conference Call Series on Building Community Capacity for Research
Community Campus Partnerships for Health
Community-Campus Partnerships for Health (CCPH) is pleased to announce the 8th call in our 2009-2010 Educational Conference Call Series on Building Community Capacity for Research! This call will feature speakers from the National Congress of American Indians Policy Research Center (PRC) about the work they are doing to build capacity for community-based participatory health research in American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) communities. Topics to be covered include: Building agendas for research with communities; Tribal Leader/Scholar Forum Research Curriculum for Tribal Leaders; Research regulation in AI/AN communities; Characteristics of good research partnerships.
The call is free of charge for those dialing in from the US and Canada.

Call for Abstracts: 2nd Biennial First Nations, Inuit and Metis Health Research Meeting First Nations and Inuit Health Branch Research (FNIHB)

FNIHB is hosting its second biennial First Nations, Inuit and Metis Health Research meeting May 13th and 14th, at the Government Conference Centre in Ottawa. The goal of the meeting is to foster a community of established and emerging Aboriginal health researchers, partners, community members and the FNIHB policy and program planners. Presentations will be in poster format with a limited number of oral presentations. Only submissions that emphasize the implications of the research project on Aboriginal Health will be considered. Community Based Researchers outside of academia are strongly encouraged to apply. For further details please see the Call for Abstracts notice.

CREST.BD Community Consultation Day: “Through my eyes: The concept of recovery in people with BD"

The Collaborative RESearch Team to study psychosocial Issues in Bipolar Disorder (CREST.BD) is holding their annual Community Consultation Day. The event will be focused on what ‘recovery’ means to people living with BD and their family members. This event is designed to explore understandings of recovery in the eyes of people living with BD and their family members. On the day, in addition to a series of focus groups, there will be an opportunity for networking and cultivation of the collaborative relationship between CREST.BD and members of the community.
